Boys Club 2010 Tryouts
August 20th 7pm-9pm and August 21st 10am-12 noon at Mountain Pointe High School
This is a 2-day tryout.
There will be a mandatory parent meeting at 7pm on Friday night where any questions can be answered.
If you are interested in trying out please RSVP to fmann@tuhsd.k12.az.us with the player's name, age, birth date, grade, and school. If you have any questions, please call Coach Mann at (480)329-6662.
Practices:
Practices will be Monday and Wednesday nights 7pm-9pm at Mountain Pointe High School beginning Sept. 13th.
Practices may be subject to change depending on the gym schedule at the school but we will let you know in advance.
Cost:
Total Cost for Club: $750
Broken down into the following payments:
$250 commitment fee due at the end of tryouts
$250 due beginning of October
$250 due beginning of November
There will be a fundraiser available.
Tournaments:
There are 6 tournaments which run from the end of September through mid-December. A calendar with more specific dates will be available at tryouts.
What to Bring to Tryouts:
- $10 tryout fee
- Copy of Birth Certificate (if you haven't played club for AZP before)
- Registration Forms
- $250 Commitment fee due at the end of tryouts
Coaches:
Fred Mann: Head boys and girls coach at Mountain Pointe High School for 17 years. Has lead the boys team to 7 state championships and girls to the 2001 state championship. Coach Mann was recently awarded The Arizona Region Salute as one of the most influential volleyball contributors to the growth of Arizona volleyball.
Teddy Liles: Played volleyball at Salpointe High School in Tucson. He was awarded a scholarship to Long Beach State and was the starting middle blocker for 2 years. Started in the 2005 National Championship as the middle blocker for Long Beach State.
Travis Hobson: Played volleyball at Mountain Ridge High School and played club for Arizona Primitive for 4 years. He recently graduated from ASU where he was the starting setter for the ASU men's club team.
Jay Hobson: Also played volleyball at Mountain Ridge High School and club for Arizona Primitive for 4 years. He is currently the starting libero for the ASU men's club team.
Jared Morrison: Mountain Pointe Volleyball Player 2005-2009. He helped lead his team to back to back State Championships. Jared was named Player of the year for Arizona in 2009. He was recently named Arizona Player of the decade by the Tribune. He is currently playing for Grand Canyon University.
